Wiki Fugue

Sudden, unexpected Wikipedia exploration, with inability to recall one’s path to the current topic.

Wikipedia is a fundamental part of my internet. One of the reasons I like Wikipedia so much is the potential for any visit to fall into “Wiki Fugue” . Wikipedia understands that links put the hyper into hypertext. And a simple visit can easily become a half hour diversion.

I borrowed “Clapton: The Autobiography” from one of my local libraries the other day. My followup at Wikipedia quickly lead me to the Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and with a little more work “Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time”. I hadn’t meant to take so long, but it was time well spent.

White Sneaks are Back

I’m sure that Gene will be pleased to see that Stan Smiths are back in style. Although he may not agree with the following fashion advice:

“They need to be clean, It’s a good look, a right-out-of-the-box-clean pair of white sneakers, and it’s the only kind you can wear with dressier clothes, nice jeans or even a suit.”

Happy Anniversary Star Trek

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy first appeared as “Star Trek’s” Capt. James T. Kirk and his first officer, Mr. Spock, on September 8, 1966—40 years ago Friday.

It’s a bit unfortunate that the anniversary comes with Star Trek out of production. But it was time to recharge the creative juices of the Star Trek franchise. Star Trek hit its peak during Deep Space Nine. Voyager never really caught my fancy. And prequels (Enterprise) are just a bad idea.

Hopefully, a little time off will bring new life to the franchise when it returns.
